TV Watch — A Look Back at Lost: Season 2
In a matter of weeks, Lost: The Complete Series will hit the shelves of stores everywhere on DVD and Blu-Ray. The more I see about this collection, the more excited I become. With this being said, I’ve decided to go back and take an extended look at the series, season by season.
Without a doubt, the first season of this series was one of the true groundbreaking moments of network TV, and following up a success like that can be quite a daunting task. However, the writers over at Lost headquarters were up to the task and added to the mystery and adventure with the second season of this television milestone. Continue reading

Your friendly neighborhood Strider-Man is definitely a shameless, Robert Kirkman fan and his series The Walking Dead and Invincible are at the top of my must-read list every month. It’s isn’t the best quality but as we get better, so will you. Continue reading
Eastbound & Down and Bored to Death are returning to HBO
HBO has announced that two favorites at the Village will return on September 26. Eastbound & Down starring Danny McBride and Bored to Death starring Jason Schwartzman will both return Sunday nights. Bored to Death will air at 9 central and Eastbound will follow. This is great news as both shows are fantastic and they are both entering their second season. Bored to Death is about a writer that moonlights as an unlicensed private detective and Eastbound & Down is about a washed up baseball player that returns to his hometown and is attempting a comeback. TV Watch — True Blood: “Bad Blood/Beautifully Broken/It Hurts Me Too”
HBO has been the home of some of the most groundbreaking and original TV series of all time. With Twilight showing movie audiences everywhere just how hammy and terrible the adventures of sparkling vampires can be, it is quite comforting to tune into the addictive and quality filled series called True Blood. True Blood, which tells the story of the residents of Bon Temps and their brushes with the supernatural, has become one of HBO’s biggest hits of all time. With season one featuring a killer who hunted “fang bangers” and season two centering around the search for a powerful vampire named Godric and a battle with a maenad, audiences everywhere were just dying to know what the cool characters of this series were going to get into for season 3. Continue reading
TV Watch — A Look Back at Lost: Season 1
Can you believe we’ve been living in a world without Lost for over a month now? It seems like only yesterday we were all gathering around the television to soak in the final hours of this television masterpiece. However, there will soon be reason to celebrate, as on August 25th, Lost: The Complete Series will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD. From the looks of things, the folks over at ABC have pulled out all the stops and this set looks simply fantastic.
So, to remind everyone of just how awesome this series was, I’m going to go back and take a look at the series season by season. I have to say, looking back at the series now knowing exactly how it ends is quite the adventure, and I hope you guys have as much fun reminiscing as I do! Continue reading

TV Watch — 24: The Final 3 Hours
After the series finale of Lost, which I was sad to see go, I had to experience the series finale of my other favorite show on television, 24. To show my true feelings about these two shows coming to an end, I can only quote the arch-villain Castor Troy: “I hate to see you go, but I LOVE to watch you leave.” That pretty much sums it up. Let’s talk about how it all went down. Continue reading
TV Watch — Lost: “The End: Sideways Story”
One of the main aspects that made Lost the phenomenon that it currently is was the inclusion of the various looks into the lives of it’s characters. In the past, we’ve seen flashbacks into the lives of the characters featured on Lost before the crash and we’ve also seen flashforwards chronicling the events that occurred to the characters after they left the island. However, in this final season of Lost, we were introduced to a novel concept called flash-sideways. This interesting plot device was used to show what would have happened to the characters that we’ve been following if the island had never existed. I thought this was a very smart and interesting twist, but I know of a few Lost fans that just didn’t see the point. Well, in the final episode ‘The End’, the flash sideways story came to its very emotional climax and we find out that what we think we knew about the sideways reality may not have necessarily been correct. Continue reading
TV Watch — Lost: “The End: Island Story”
Well, my fellow Losties, it’s been just over a week since the screen went black and we experienced the final moments in the television phenomenon that we’ve been following and discussing for the past 6 years. Over the past few days, it’s been a lot of fun discussing the various points of the finale with everyone who gathered around television sets everywhere on May 23rd. Due to the epic nature of the series finale of Lost, I’ve decided to split my look at the final chapter into two sections. Here, I intend to look at the island plotline, which we’ve been following for Lost’s entire run. There are many different opinions and views about the way Lost ended, but I for one couldn’t have imagined a better way to say goodbye to the series. Continue reading
TV Watch — Chuck: “Chuck Vs The Subway/Chuck Vs The Ring: Part II”
Well, this certainly has been a roller coaster year for the cast and crew over at Chuck. Following the massive campaign that led to the series being renewed for a third season, the show premiered with much fanfare and found itself one of NBC’s powerhouse shows. Then, after a lukewarm reaction from fans to a plot development followed by an extended hiatus due to the winter Olympics, it was unclear if Chuck would live to see a season four. Even though the ratings never reached what they were at season three’s beginning, NBC has done the right thing and has picked up the spy series for another season. Chuck ended its ambitious third season with a two-hour adventure that was funny, entertaining, and action packed. Continue reading

TV Watch — “American Idol – The Finale”
It’s been an interesting year on American Idol and the finale was full of surprises, great performances and another winner that should have lost. Yeah that’s right Lee Dewyze is your new American Idol and I’m not mad about it because now I can watch another Idol runner up have a bigger career than the winner. I like Lee, but he was not in the same league as Crystal last night and America should have given Crystal the title. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of career Lee ends up having, hopefully he will shake his jitters and do very well. Crystal on the other hand should have no such problem. Her unique style and sound should transfer into immediate success, but we’ll have to wait and see. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 2″
It’s Lee vs. Crystal and it’s time to find out who will reign as this year’s American Idol. This is going to be Simon’s last season and while it may be hard to imagine the show without him, we can take comfort in the fact that he will be producing his own show called “X-Factor”. As for the final two tonight, one was swallowed up and consumed by the moment and the other seized it and became a star. Let’s see how it all went down… Continue reading
TV Watch — Lost: “Across The Sea/What They Died For”
Well, my fellow fans of Lost…the time is almost upon us. In only a mere matter of days we will all be gathering around the television to experience the final chapter of what may go down as the greatest television series of all time. However, before all of the Lost viewing parties begin to gather and celebrate the culmination of 6 seasons of mystery and adventure, let’s take a look at the final two episodes that definitely presented a great deal of material for the finale. Continue reading
TV Watch — Chuck: “Chuck Vs The Tooth/Chuck Vs The Living Dead”
Well, my fellow fans of Chuck, there is much cause for celebration, because NBC has actually done the right thing and renewed the series for a well deserved fourth season! This means that there won’t have to be a grassroots campaign of eating hundreds of sandwiches this time around! This welcome news also happened to hit the airwaves during a time where Chuck presented two particularly strong episodes that brought an interesting twist to Chuck’s new life as an international man of mystery while leading up to what looks to be yet another amazing season finale. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 3 Results”
The Finale is set. It’s going to be Lee Dewyze vs. Crystal Bowersox for the crown of American Idol. Tonight we said goodbye to Casey James. Casey was very good all season and even though I felt he got a little weak as the competition wore on, he still did an amazing job this year. As for tonight’s show, we had performances by some guy named Travis Garland. No idea who he is and I wasn’t impressed. Then we got the male Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber. I guess twelve year old girl were very happy with tonight’s show, but if you wanted good music you were out of luck. Continue reading

TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 3″
Well if tonight proved anything it was that this is the weakest season American Idol has ever had. Only one performance really stood out as a star making performance. I’m not exactly sure when it happened, but at some point lee has surpassed Crystal and is now in the driver’s seat to win this season. Crystal’s night was ok and she seems to be slipping just a little, but that might be enough for Lee to sneak in. Oh yeah and Casey was there too. Sorry if I forgot to mention him, but I’m pretty sure America will forget to vote for him as well. Now let’s take a look at tonight’s performances… Continue reading
TV Watch — “Survivor Heroes Vs. Villains: The Finale”
Sunday night on CBS we saw the dramatic conclusion of Survivor Heroes Vs. Villains. The final three were narrowed down to Russell, Parvarti, and Sandra. Personally, I was pulling for Russell. He played another brilliant strategic game, but he burned too many bridges on the jury and didn’t receive a single vote for the million dollars. Parvarti dominated most of the challenges this season and she was forced to align with Russell early in the season and did a great job surviving all the way to the end. In the end the jury awarded the million dollars to Sandra and in doing so she became the first two time winner of Survivor. Continue reading

TV Watch — 24: “9am-10am/10am-11am/11am-12pm/12pm-1pm”
So, last time we left off with Jack at the hospital standing over the dead body of Renee Walker. I predicted that Jack would go all renegade and, to be honest, “renegade” doesn’t even scratch the surface. To quote Marv in Sin City, “This is blood for blood and by the gallon.” Jack is in a “take no prisoners and kill my way to the top” kind of mood, and quite frankly, it has been an awesome ride thus far. Let’s get to it.
As the episode begins, Jack calls Chloe to find out where Bazhaev (the Russian crime boss who sold the nuclear rods to the terrorists) is being held. Continue reading
TV Watch — Glee: “Bad Reputation/Laryngitis”
Fellow Gleeks, sorry I missed you last week, but I have a double recap here to make up for it. Without further adieu, let’s get to it.
Last week’s episode was entitled “Bad Reputation” and the Glee club is given the assignment of finding songs that have a bad reputation and bring them back into popularity. The episode kicks off with a few of the members of the Glee club watching a stolen video of Coach Sue performing Olivia Newton John’s “Physical”. Soon word gets out and the members of the faculty stop fearing Sue, which enrages her. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 4 Results”
Well America you screwed up the final three yet again. In an upset Casey, somehow avoided elimination this week and Michael Lynch is heading home. Before we get to Michael, let’s talk about tonight’s show which was actually pretty good. Former American Idol champion, Fantasia opened the show up and later we were treated to a performance from one of the most successful selling artists to come from American Idol, Chris Daughtry. The final performance of the night came from rock legends Bon Jovi. All the performances were pretty good and it’s amazing to still see Bon Jovi rocking it out. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 4″
It was another strange night on American Idol as the contestants performed songs from movies. Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx returned to mentor this week after doing a great job last season. He seemed to do a good job this week, but the contestants struggled a bit. Along with each performance we got two duets to help the audience make their choice on who will make the final three. Song choice was certainly an issue this week and it’ll be interesting to see who makes it through next week. So without any further a due, let’s get to the performances. Continue reading
TV Watch — Lost: “The Candidate”
The final season of Lost has brought us some of the most creative stories in the history of the series. We’ve seen the return of some former cast members and many of the island mysteries have been resolved. However, if there was any doubt that the end of the series is right around the corner, it was made absolutely clear with the episode ‘The Candidate.’ Full of action and emotion, this was a great chapter of the series, which helped the actors truly shine. Continue reading
TV Watch — Chuck: “Chuck Vs. The Role Models”
After the events of the past few episodes, things are very different in the world of Chuck Bartowski. Not only has Chuck become a full-fledged government agent, but he’s also finally gotten the girl and brought his best friend onto his spy team. Everything seems to be looking up for Chuck, and as he returns to his home in Burbank, it seems that noting will be the same as everyone around Chuck must adapt to the new developments in operation Bartowski. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 5 Results”
It is elimination time on American Idol. Tonight’s show was much more entertaining than last week’s country music show. Tonight we had another crazy and mesmerizing performance from Lady Gaga. Harry Connick Jr. performed a song from his new CD and we also got some interesting looks at the behind the scenes work on Idol. This week it’s a bottom two instead of three. To my surprise Casey managed to avoid elimination. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 5″
It’s down to the Top 5 on American Idol and for this we get Frank Sinatra week. Ok, I can appreciate that some 40 years ago Frank Sinatra was the biggest thing, but we are in 2010 and I just don’t find most of his songs relevant to current music. Was he great? Absolutely, but I was very worried for the contestant this week. The mentor this week was Harry Connick Jr. and he did an amazing job guiding the contestants through one of the toughest nights this season. Sinatra’s music is very difficult to perform, but Harry Connick Jr. was fantastic and we actually had a couple performances really stand out. Without further a due, let’s get to it… Continue reading
TV Watch — True Blood: “Minisode: Eric & Pam/Minisode: Jessica”
The creators of HBO’s massive hit series True Blood have developed a loyal fan following that’s growing by leaps and bounds with each episode they air. The first season of the vampire series was a modest success, however after terrific word of mouth and a successful dvd release, the second season was nothing short of phenomenal. Season 2 left off with quite a cliffhanger, and fans across the globe are dying to know the fates of all the awesome characters from Bon Temps. Well, if the premier date of June 13th is still too far away, the good folks at HBO have decided to release a collection of “minisodes” to wet the palates of the legion of Sookie fans. Continue reading
TV Watch — Justified: “The Collection/Blind Spot”
As the FX Network’s latest series, Justified, continues, we continue to learn about the large variety of interesting characters that are presented from week to week. Fans of this series have many reasons to celebrate as of late, because not only have Raylan and his crew been presenting quality entertainment, but Justified is a bona fide hit. This week, FX announced that they have officially picked up Justified for a second season, and while this certainly isn’t surprising, it’s always welcome news when a quality series survives the gauntlet of television Continue reading
TV Watch — Chuck: “Chuck Vs. The Honeymooners”
When we last left the newest CIA operative, Agent Charles Bartowski, things were looking pretty good. Before the break, Chuck had gained control of the intersect for the most part, and after killing a traitorous double agent he finally was able to win back Sarah’s heart. In fact, the last episode seemed like the perfect ending for a season finale. However, the break is over and we’re in the final stretch that is leading to the finale of this impressive third season of Chuck. As if to give the loyal Chuck fans a gift, this latest episode seemed to present everything that the fans have been asking for. Continue reading
TV Watch — Lost: “Everybody Loves Hugo/The Last Recruit”
Well, my fellow Lost fans, the end is drawing closer and closer. Soon enough we will all be gathering around to experience the final hours of television’s greatest mystery series. However, until then, we still have a few more pieces of the puzzle that need to be put into place before the Lost series finale. One of the aspects that have made this amazing series so special is the fact that the episodes tend to focus around a certain character. By structuring the show this way, we were given a chance to get to know these characters very well. With the past two episodes, we were presented with what seems to be the very last single character episode and the finale battle for the island has begun in quite an explosive fashion. Continue reading
TV Watch — Glee: “Home”
This past week’s episode of Glee, entitled “Home” had a much different feel than most other episodes of the show. For one thing, Rachel is usually the centerpiece of the show, or at the very least the centerpiece for one of the major storylines of each episode. In “Home”, Rachel had only a couple minutes of screen time. This wasn’t a bad thing. Rachel’s absence gave some much-needed screen time to some of the supporting characters, namely Kurt and Mercedes. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 6 Results”
Thank God for the invention of the DVR, without it I would have had to endure an hour long elimination episode of American Idol that was full of country music performances. In case you didn’t know, I’m not a fan of country music. The finalists were split into three groups of two. I’m not genius, but how do you get a bottom three from groups of two? So, Siobahn is asked to walk from one end to the other and stand with Michael and Casey to form the bottom three. Continue reading

TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 6″
It’s Shania Twain week? Really? Ok, I thought tonight was going to be horrible, but I have to say it was pretty good. To my surprise the guys did very well with Shania’s catalog of country/pop songs that have driven me crazy for years. Yes, I find her songs annoying at times and yes, I find myself singing these songs as they always get stuck in my head. Thankfully, no one performed “I feel like a woman”. So let’s have a look at how the Top 6 did this week. Continue reading
TV Watch — Glee: “The Power of Madonna”
In this “Madonna-themed” second episode since the triumphant return of Glee, the entire school is bombarded with the music of Madonna all day long over the school’s PA, after Coach Sue continues her blackmail of Principal Figgins, by threatening to show his wife the pictures she took of him in bed after she drugged him and put him there. She also tells Figgins that she wants to send a group of students off to New York on their own with almost no money, so they can start their careers just like Madonna did. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 7 Results”
Tonight was Idol gives Back. So we had a long night of charity and performances from everyone from the Black Eyed Peas, Annie Lennox, Elton John and Alicia Keys. If you are one of the many people who depend on DVR services for your results, then you may be out of luck because tonight Idol ran almost a half hour late. Never fear, The Village is here to keep you up to date on the latest Idol info. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 7″
It’s time for inspirational songs on American Idol and this week the contestants get the wisdom of the beautiful, sexy and amazingly brilliant singer, Alicia Keys. To my surprise, I didn’t think Alicia was a good mentor this week. I’m a big fan of her music and I couldn’t think of anyone better to advise this often times lost group on Idol this year, but her advice didn’t seem to help and most of the performance were very mediocre. There was one performance that was way out in front of the rest and if there was any doubt about who was going to win this year, it was answered tonight. Continue reading

TV Watch — “Survivor Heroes Vs. Villains: Expectations/ Survivor History”
Coach has come to the conclusion that voting off Boston Rob will send the Villains tribe into chaos. Ironically, this may be exactly what Russell is hoping for. His battle with Rob ended last week with a brilliant blindside and now it’s time to see who will step up and take control of this tribe, which now has no leader. Meanwhile, the Heroes have found another hidden immunity idol, courtesy of JT. One has to wonder if Amanda had not found him looking for it if he would have told his tribe mates that he found it. Continue reading
TV Watch — 24: “5am-6am/6am-8am/8am-9am”
The past three weeks of 24 have had some of the most gut-wrenching endings I can remember in the history of 24 , with two consecutive weeks ending with the infamous “silent clock.” For those of you not familiar with the history of 24 , every scene before a commercial break as well as every final scene of an episode ends with a visual of the real-time clock counting down for a few seconds, accompanied with the sound of the beeping of the digital clock. However, to mark events that are highly emotional, such as the death of a major character, the scene will end with a silent countdown. Since the beginning of the series, the silent clock has occurred 11 times, the final two being at the end of the past two consecutive episodes. Continue reading
TV Watch — Justified: “Riverbrook/Fixer/Long in the Tooth/The Lord of War and Thunder”
With The Shield and Nip/Tuck both over, and Rescue Me seeming to be winding down, it seems as is the FX network has found it’s next hit series in the awesome US Marshal series Justified. It is very comforting when you see a network, be it on cable or not, that can stand back and take a chance on a different type of scripted series and present audiences everywhere with some quality entertainment. After the awesome series premier, Justified didn’t skip a beat into introducing us into quite the interesting world of Raylan Givens and the U.S. Marshal service in Kentucky. Over the past four episodes, we’ve seen everything from Raylan hunting an escaped prisoner, to coming to grips with his estranged father. It is pretty clear that Justified is one of the coolest shows on television, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Continue reading
TV Watch — Glee: “Hell-O”
Tuesday night marked the long-awaited return of one of the most popular new shows on television, Glee.
After the nearly four month hiatus, Gleeks around the globe tuned in to see their favorite fictional high school glee club back in the spotlight, still high on their big win at sectionals. All of the familiar faces were back in full swing in this first new episode of the year entitled “Hell-O”. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 9 Results Part 2″
The judge’s decision to save Michael last week means that this week we get a double elimination. The road has ended for Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens. Andrew was no big surprise as he has been up and down all season. In Hollywood week Andrew emerged as one of the early favorites after his version of the Paula Abdul classic, Straight Up was declared as brilliant. Once the show went live Andrew struggled and the judge
TV Watch — The Pacific: “Parts 2-5″
Having now seen the first five parts of the 10-part HBO miniseries, The Pacific, it kinda hits home just how much these people put on the line for their fellow soldiers and their country, with little to no concern for their own well-being. These men and women were heroes, and I for one feel as if I take for granted all the privileges they maintained for the rest of us and how I never have had to and probably never will have to lay my life on the line like they did. That being said, I will now get off of my figurative soapbox and talk about the actual show. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 9 – Part 2″
It is Elvis week on American Idol and this week, two performers will be eliminated. Elvis is one of the greatest singers the world has ever known and in the past, Idol week’s featuring Elvis have been pretty memorable. The mentor for the Idol contestants this week is last season’s runner up Adam Lambert. Some have said, “How can Adam Lambert be a mentor when he is just starting his career?” Well, his career may just be getting started, but he just went through this competition and I think he was a fantastic choice. Not to mention that America screwed up last season by not awarding Lambert with the title of American Idol. The results were very good and Lambert did a good job, unfortunately some were a little off and could be in trouble, so let’s take a look at what went down.. Continue reading
TV Watch — Lost: “The Package/Happily Ever After”
As this final season of Lost continues, characters are beginning to be explored in ways never before presented on television and lines are being drawn for the final battle for the island. Over the past few weeks, we’ve been presented with a very interesting look at the characters of Sun and Jin as well as receiving some of the plans that a number of different groups on the island have come up with to confront their enemies. Finally, the Lost crew has done it again and created quite an amazing chapter that begins the task of explaining the sideways reality along with bringing back one of the coolest characters presented on television. Continue reading
TV Watch — Chuck: “Chuck Vs. The American Hero/Chuck Vs. The Other Guy”
After many twists, turns, and lots of fun Chuck Bartowski’s dreams of becoming a full-fledged spy seem to have come true. After the events of the past few episodes, Chuck has begun to gain control of the intersect and with some help from his friends, Chuck is in a position to finally become Special Agent Bartowski. However, as Chuck’s dreams of becoming a spy are coming true, his dreams of a future with Sarah are slowly drifting away as her relationship with Agt. Shaw becomes more and more serious. With the latest two chapters of Chuck, we see Chuck and his crew pull out all the stops to win Sarah back. The plot following the fight with The Ring also takes a number of unexpected turns that proves just how amazing this series has become. Continue reading

TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 9 Results”
Let’s start with all the other stuff that went on tonight. Jason Derulo performed. I’ll admit, I really don’t know who the hell that is. We also got a performance from American Idol runner-up, David Archuletta. That kid has always bothered me. Thank God, David Cook beat him. The big performance was from Pop superstar, Rihanna. She has never looked better and after her fiasco with Chris Brown it’s nice to see her doing so well and his career is in the crapper. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 9″
It’s Tuesday night so that must mean it’s time for Idol. This week the Top 9 are doing the songs of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Let’s get one thing clear. The Beatles are the greatest band in the history of music. There really is no debate about this statement if you have any ability to hear music. I can listen to the argument of Beatles or Elvis, but as far as bands go there is no equal. Having said that, I am really looking forward to see what this group does with such fantastic material, so let’s see what happened… Continue reading
TV Watch — “Survivor Heroes Vs. Villains: Knights of the Round Table, Banana Etiquette,I’m Not a Good Villain”
A lot has taken place in the last three episodes of Survivor Heroes Vs. Villians. Thanks to the NCAA Basketball Tournament, Survivor wasn’t on one week and was moved to Wednesday night last week. This week Survivor was back on Thursday and the drama continues. Without further a due, let’s take a look at the last three weeks of Survivor Heroes Vs. Villians. Continue reading

TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 10 Results”
Am I the only one who thinks these elimination episodes are the most drawn out and usually boring thing to watch? Maybe I feel like this because the eliminations have been pretty easy to see lately. Well these shows are starting to become more about which stars will show up and promote their latest music. This week we got former American Idol winner Ruben Studdard, this week’s mentor, Usher and the enigmatic Diddy or P.Diddy or Puff Daddy or Dirty Money? I don’t really know what he’s called anymore, but he’s an energetic fellow. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 10″
Last week the Idol finalists made me wonder if this season would ever have a great night of performances. Well, thanks to some great advice from Usher, the finalists have stepped up and delivered the best show of the season. Having said that there were two or three performances that never got on track, but Andrew finally returned to the star we saw in Hollywood week and now I feel that the competition is on…. Continue reading
TV Watch — 24: “3am-4am/4am-5am”
Alright. So, 24 has been officially cancelled after this season. Not to worry. A television show that stays on the air, while remaining rather successful, for eight years is pretty impressive. It seems that shows nowadays are lucky if they make it past eight episodes. Also, we now have 24 movies to look forward to. “Big-Screen-Bauer” has the potential to be pretty awesome. But I digress.
The past two episodes of 24 were two of the best so far this season, both with classic 24-style endings. Let’s not waste any time and get right to it. Continue reading
24 Is Officially Cancelled

TV Watch — Lost: “Recon/Ab Aeterno”
So, we’ve officially reached the halfway point in the final season of the television masterpiece Lost. Lines are beginning to be drawn, and the war between the light and the dark is set to begin. The biggest question that lies ahead of our castaways is exactly which side is the light and which side is the dark? Is the notorious “man in black” as evil as Jacob and all of his followers claim he is? Well, over the past two weeks, we’ve have a pair of very interesting chapters in the Lost saga. First we had an episode that was mostly used for set-up, but it also functioned as a very complex character study. Secondly, we were presented with a very special episode that will most likely be remembered alongside ‘The Constant’ as one of Lost’s finest hours. Continue reading
TV Watch — American Idol: “The Top 11 Results”
After sitting through a long drawn out one hour elimination episode, in no big surprise Paige Miles has been voted off American Idol. Seriously, this was one terrible week for Idol. First, we had a really bad night last night for most of the performers and tonight was one of the most boring elimination episodes ever. Not to mention that the stars that showed up to perform were all children from the Disney channel. This week’s mentor, Miley Cyrus performed a song in a cloud of smoke and then we had a Jonas brother singing with Demi Lovato. I don’t really know who she is, I heard she has a Disney channel show. Continue reading
TV Watch — “Chuck: Chuck Vs the Final Exam”
Well, it’s been a long and complicated journey for Chuck Bartowski, but the time has finally arrived for him to prove if he has what it takes to finally become an official CIA operative. For the past 3 years, we’ve seen Chuck go through hell, very entertaining at times, in his quest to become a spy and in the latest episode of Chuck, he finally gets to show everyone what he’s got in ‘Chuck Vs the Final Exam.’ Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 11″
This is the Top 11 and these guys are really struggling. I’ve said in the past that themes can kill certain performers, but this week the theme was Billboard’s #1’s. No excuses, these guys should be a lot better at this point. Last week was Rolling Stones week, so I was a little lenient to performers like Paige or Aaron. With the exception of one or two performances this was one of the worst shows I can remember at this stage in the competition. Miley Cyrus was the mentor for the contestants and while I love Miley, I don’t think she was the best choice for a mentor. She did help out one or two performer a lot, but if you saw the show you could tell something was off with most of the performances. Well, let’s try and sift through the garbage and figure out who’s going home. Continue reading
TV Watch — “The Pacific: Guadalcanal/Leckie”
In 2001, executive producers Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks brought the 10-part World War II miniseries Band of Brothers to HBO. Based on the novel of the same name by historian Stephen Ambrose, Band of Brothers followed the true account of “Easy Company” of the 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment assigned to the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. The story began with Easy Company’s training, after which they parachuted into Normandy in the early hours of D-Day, and then it followed them throughout the duration of the war, until its conclusion. In my opinion, Band of Brothers is by far the best miniseries ever made, and one of the best narrations of war ever put on film. Now, nine years later, Spielberg and Hanks have teamed up again to bring to HBO the follow up to Band of Brothers, the story of the American soldiers who fought the war on the other side of the world: The Pacific. Continue reading
TV Watch — “Justified: Fire in the Hole”
Over the past few years, the folks over at the FX network have presented us with some of the coolest and most talked about television series of all time. With shows such as Nip/Tuck, Rescue Me, and The Shield; you can always count on FX to deliver groundbreaking and quality entertainment. Well, with The Shield and Nip/Tuck over and done, FX presented it’s newest series this week, and I have to say, Justified may be one of the network’s finest additions. Continue reading
TV Watch — “Chuck: Chuck Vs the Tic Tac”
One of the most successful things about Chuck is it’s awesome characters. Honestly, how can you get better characters than Chuck Bartowski, Sarah Walker, Morgan Grimes, and Captain Awesome? While the majority of the series has been focused on Chuck’s evolution into a spy, we’ve gotten some interesting back-stories on a number of the supporting characters. In the latest chapter in season 3 of Chuck, we are treated to quite an interesting look at the past of one of the coolest and tightlipped characters on the show, John Casey. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 12 Results”
I just can’t figure it out. For weeks Lacey Brown was absolutely awful, but America kept her around. Then this week we get to the Top 12 and while she wasn’t great, she has been a lot worse. Anyway, America has decided and Lacey has finally been sent home. I predicted the bottom three correctly, but I had my money on Tim being voted off. Tim was horrible with a weird interpretation of The Stones song “Under My Thumb”. Continue reading
TV Watch — “Lost: Sundown/Dr. Linus”
As the final season of the television phenomenon Lost continues, lines are beginning to be drawn and the war so often spoken of seems poised to begin. On the other hand, we also have been getting quite an interesting look at what the lives of the characters could have been, and the results of these flash-sideways are quite a cool look into different aspects of these awesome characters. The past two weeks, we were given one of the most amazing television events all year, and one of the greatest performances we’ve seen all year. All in all, this 6th season of Lost is just great, and as the end gets closer, the episodes become all the more interesting Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 12″
Finally, we have made it to the big stage. It is time for the top 12 and our first theme week is none other than, “The Rolling Stones”. Now, I’m not a big Stone’s fan so I wasn’t expecting much this week and I have to say I think I was right. Don’t get me wrong I think the Rolling Stones are a legendary band and I respect their music. I just felt that they were not a good choice for Idol. Other than one or two performances most of the night was bland and I am starting to see why a lot of people are saying this is one of the weakest groups Idol has had in a while. So let’s try to figure out who is going home this week. Continue reading

TV Watch — “24: 2am-3am”
After the potentially heartbreaking news that Fox may be indeed canceling 24 after this 8th season (although the show may be picked up by the struggling NBC and/or Jack Bauer feature films may be on the horizon), it is time to put that tragic notion aside and return to our regularly scheduled installment of Bauer-induced ass kicking and world saving.
When we last left off, Cole and Dana had just finished dumping Kevin’s body in the lake, President Hassan’s head of security, Tarin Faroush, had escaped custody and was hiding out with Hassan’s daughter in a hotel room while they waited for an attorney who would help them apply for asylum, and Jack and Cole’s team were at the hospital where American-born attempted-suicide-bomber, Marcos, had barricaded himself in a hyperbaric chamber. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 16 Results”
The Top 12 is set and there were some surprises. I’m pretty sure I have no idea what America is thinking because once again some rather talented people were sent home. It was an emotional night on Idol, maybe one of the most emotional ever. Thank God we had Matt Giraud and Scott Mcintyre come back to perform…Billy Joel?? I would think they would have realized that they aren’t in the competition and it’s time to do some of their own stuff. Guess not and Scott Mcintyre still scares me. Well, lets take a look at the four eliminations for this week. Continue reading
TV Watch — “Chuck: Chuck Vs the Beard”
So far this third season of Chuck has delivered quality entertainment from week to week. The entire dynamic of the series has begun to change with the new and improved intersect and the fact that the character of Chuck Bartowski has been slowly evolving into a full-fledged spy. However, everything that we know about the world that Chuck finds himself in is about to change, and the latest episode ‘Chuck Vs the Beard’ is the beginning of something very different and special. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 8 Guys”
The guys gave us a very memorable night. Most of the guys were actually very good and one in particular brought the house down.
The judges have definitely improved from earlier in the season and are making a lot more sense (one of them even channeled her inner Paula Abdul). So without further a due let’s see who delivered and who may be going home. Continue reading
TV Watch– “Survivor Heroes Vs. Villains: That Girl is Like a Virus/Tonight, We Make Our Move”
After two episodes of Survivor Heroes vs. Villains it’s clear that the Villains have gotten off to a fast start. The Villains won immunity the first two weeks and despite struggles at camp they always pull together when a challenge comes up. It is now a critical time for the Heroes, if they can’t stop their losing ways they will all be in serious trouble. Continue reading
Fox To Announce Cancellation of 24?
Variety is reporting that Fox will officially announce the cancellation of the hour-long drama 24 sometime this week. The show, which has run for eight seasons starring Kiefer Sutherland and has won many critical accolades and awards has seen it’s ratings decline in the midst of growing production costs. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 8 Girls”
It’s time to put up or shut up. This is the final round of double eliminations and one week away from The Top 12.
The Girls get to go first this week and we had a lot of interesting moments. Simon and the gang are starting to make a little more sense than earlier this season. This week’s elimination will be tough, but let’s take a look at how the night broke down. Continue reading

TV Watch — “Chuck: Chuck Vs the Fake Name”
For the past few weeks, the world’s eyes have been set on the winter Olympic games in Canada. Due to the extensive coverage of this momentous event, we have been without many of our favorite shows for quite some time. Well, all the fun of the Olympics has ended, and it’s time to go back to our favorite shows, which means Chuck is back! When we last saw the Chuck gang back in ‘Chuck Vs The Mask’ things were seriously changing in the world of Chuck Bartowski. Not only was Chuck working with a new confidence, but also he was continuously impressing Agent Shaw (Brandon Routh) with his spy ability. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 20 Results”
What the hell is going on, America? For the second straight week Lacey Brown has given us all some absolutely terrible performances and for the second straight week she survived. At first I chalked it up to sympathy for her exit last season before the top 24, but sympathy can go only so far. I just can’t imagine anyone sitting at home watching all the performances thinking to themselves, “Lacey is good, I’m gonna vote for her”. At least Danny Gokey came back to perform a cheesy country song to lift my spirits. Well, let’s take a look at who went home. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 10 Girls”
Thankfully, Crystal is ok and good to go for this week’s round of performances. It was an interesting and entertaining show. The girls were all over the place as there were some really good performances and a lot of mediocre ones. Things are starting to get interesting and we are starting to see just who are the real contenders this year and who are the pretenders. So, without further a due let’s get to tonight performances. Continue reading
TV Watch — “24: 1am-2am”
When we last left off, Cole and Dana were standing near a lake with the bodies of Kevin and his partner-in-crime. Not too much happens with this plotline this episode, besides Cole and Dana sinking the bodies in the lake.
Jack has been put in charge of Cole’s team for the mission to extract Farhad Hassan, but when the team shows up, Farhad has been shot and quickly dies thereafter. From here, Jack works with Hastings to set up a fake news story that Farhad has been taken into custody wounded, but alive… Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – The Top 10 Guys”
Well, Crystal Bowersox was taken to the hospital and under doctor’s orders is unable to perform tonight. So the guys are up first this week. Considering that they had short notice they were going on tonight instead of Wednesday I’d say they put on a good show. A lot of the guys showed improvement and a couple took steps backwards. Let’s see who brought it and who may be headed home. Continue reading

TV Watch — “Lost: The Substitute/Lighthouse”
After a mind-bending premier, and a toned-down character piece, the creators of Lost have presented two of their most amazing chapters that are slowly beginning to answer questions that have been lingering since day one. After the poorly received Kate-centric episode that followed up the epic premier of this 6th and final season of the television phenomenon, the folks over at Lost headquarters surely answered their critics by crafting two chapters of intrigue and excitement. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – Top 24 Results”
Well, I think it’s safe to say that after the first round of eliminations America has got some issues with hearing. Nerves always play a factor in the early stages of the live shows. There were a lot of mediocre to bad performances. Out of all the performances the two worst were easily Lacey Brown and Tim Urban. Go figure they both get to come back for another week. Nice job, America. So, let’s take a look at who is going to be going home and what went wrong. Continue reading
TV Watch — “American Idol – Top 12 Guys”
The biggest and most successful reality show ever has finally gotten down to the Top 24. It seemed like we would never get finished with all the terrible auditions and endless guest judges. American Idol begins without Paula Abdul for the first time. In her place we get someone with a sense of sanity in Ellen DeGeneres. No more drama of Hollywood week, we finally get to make the decisions and decide who will be the next American Idol. Wednesday, it’s the guys turn and here….we….go! Continue reading

TV Watch — “24: 9pm-1am” Recap
Sorry folks. I know it’s been a while, but it’s time to get back to some 24/Jack Bauer action-packed awesomeness. I’ll give a quick recap of the past four episodes here, along with a few thoughts about each. These past four episodes have covered the time period on “Day 8” from 9:00pm – 1:00am. There have been some high points and low points, but all in typical 24 fashion. Let’s get to it. Continue reading
TV Watch- “Survivor Heroes Vs. Villains- Slay Everyone Trust No One/ It’s Getting the Best of Me”
It’s time for the 20th season of Survivor. Some of the best contestants in the history of Survivor will compete in an All-Star season of Heroes vs. Villains. So, without any further a due, let’s get to it. The season premiere is a special two hour long episode. Unfortunately, the first twenty minutes of the show is a long helicopter ride to the island, followed by a long discussion about who’s a villain and who’s a hero. Continue reading
TV Watch — “Lost: What Kate Does”
As the final season of ABC’s television phenomenon Lost rolls along, it is pretty clear that the creators of the series have a plan and are sticking to it. After the amazing season 6 premier, ‘LA X’, the big question floating around was exactly what the show was going to offer up next. Now, generally the writers of the show tend to follow up the epic season premiers with more low-key character driven episodes. However, with this being the final season, it was unclear if this trend would continue. Well, with the second episode in this season entitled ‘What Kate Does’, the creators of Lost took quite a chance and stuck with their formula and presented a low-key episode that showcased an interesting look at the character of Kate Austin. Continue reading

TV Watch — “Chuck: Chuck Vs The Mask”
Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen Chuck Bartowski grow and mature in his journey from random, everyday geek into an up-and-coming super spy. Recently, not only has Chuck accomplished his first solo mission, but he’s successfully worked with an asset and has impressed the newest member of the team, Daniel Shaw (Brandon Routh). As for his personal life, Chuck is finding it more and more difficult to keep his spy life seperate from his relationship with his family and friends. In fact, Chuck’s constant odd behavior has drawn the suspicions of Morgan and Ellie, who are both obsessing over finding out the secret behind Chuck’s abnormal behavior. So far, this third season of Chuck has been downright fantastic, with solid episode afer solid episode, and the latest chapter ‘Chuck Vs The Mask’ is yet another excellent addition to such a fun and interesting series. Continue reading
TV Watch: Smallville: Absolute Justice
The numbers have just come in and Smallville posted it’s highest ratings ever with it’s first, two hour television event: Absolute Justice. This isn’t surprising as the event has been hyped for months by comic and non-comic fans alike for two reasons: 1) The first live action Justice Society Of America ever and 2) Geoff Johns. eoff Johns is the comics creator responsible for the current juggernaut that is The Blackest Night as well as revitalizations of such DC characters as Hawkman, Green Lantern, The Flash, and Superman… Continue reading

If you’ve been paying attention at work or school, there’s probably a tight group of people who have been buzzing about an upcoming television event. More than likely, you’ve noticed people clamoring together and saying words like “hatch”, “Jughead”, and “Lapidus”. Well, this can only mean one thing: Lost is back, baby! After all of the anticipation, patience and speculation, the last season of this phenomenon has begun, and it started off, just as the last season ended – with a BANG! Continue reading
TV Watch — “Chuck: Chuck Vs Nacho Sampler”
As this third season of Chuck goes on, it’s pretty clear that the writers of this awesome series are becoming more and more confident in their work and the work of the talented actors that viewers have grown to absolutely love. In last week’s solid episode ‘Chuck Vs First Class’, not only did Chuck successfully complete his first solo mission, but in the process, he recruited a new Nerd Herd employee. This week, Chuck’s evolution into a full-blown spy takes another giant step when he is given his first asset to work with. This is yet another solid episode and watching Chuck transform from the naïve geek that we met in season 1 to the spy he’s becoming is one of the most interesting things on TV. Continue reading
TV Watch — “Lost: Walkabout/The Constant”
Well, fellow Lost fans…the day we’ve been waiting for is finally here. Today is the day that the final season of the Lost phenomenon begins. With tonight’s season 6 premier, LA X, we finally get to see just what happened when the characters lost in the 70s tried to rewrite history. To mark this great day, I’ve been looking back at the finest chapters in this already amazing series. This 6th and final season looks to tie up many of the loose ends generated by 5 seasons of mystery and excitement. During the last look, we took a gander at the classic episodes ‘Live Together, Die Alone’ and ‘316’. So, without further ado, here are my top episodes of Lost…so far. Continue reading

Last time we took a look at ‘The 23rd Psalm’ and ‘Greatest Hits.’ So here are two more classic Lost episodes with only one more look back after the conclusion of this one. Continue reading

With the premier of the final season of Lost only Days away, we’ve been taking a look back at some of the greatest episodes of this groundbreaking series. The fantastic thing about Lost is that it excels at just about everything it has tried. We’ve seen such a wide variety of episode types, it’s a fantastic accomplishment and the Bad Robot guys should really be proud of their work here. The last look back featured the episodes ‘Do No Harm’ and ‘The Shape of Things to Come’. Heading up to the best Lost episode of all time, here’s a look at two classic Lost episodes which are, in my opinion, two of the absolute best. Continue reading

We previously took a look at the episodes ‘Tricia Tanaka is Dead’ and ‘The Incident’. Today, we are going to take a look at two more classic episodes of Lost, building up to what I believe is the best Lost episode thus far. In the latest installment of Season 8 of 24, Jack and Renee are still undercover as Renee attempts to re-establish her cover in a New York Russian crime syndicate led by the sociopathic Russian with whom Renee has a mysterious past, Vladimir Laitanan (Callum Keith Rennie, who will always be known to me as “Lew Ashby” from Californication). The secret behind Renee’s past with Vladimir worries Jack, especially since he already doesn’t trust that she is mentally and emotionally stable enough for this mission. Continue reading

TV Watch — “Chuck: Chuck Vs. First Class”
After last week’s damn near perfect ending to the great two part story that incorporated Captain Awesome into Chuck’s spy life, things are beginning to change while the group are under the command of Special Agent Daniel Shaw. Agt. Shaw is doing a bit of a shake up of Operation Bartowski by sending Chuck on his first solo mission. Of course Sarah and Casey are against this, but Shaw wants to know what his newest team member is really made of. The results are quite entertaining, and while not as perfect as the past 2 episodes, ‘Chuck Vs. First Class’ showcases a lot of laughs and is a very entertaining adventure. Continue reading

TV Watch — “Chuck: Chuck Vs. Operation Awesome”
Last week, we saw Captain Awesome becoming envious of Chuck and his life as a spy and desperately wanted in on some of the action. Well, how’s the old saying go? Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. After lending a hand in a mission to protect a foreign leader, Devon has found himself captured by The Ring – the group of spies whose motives are still unknown, but re responsible for the death of Bryce Larkin. After one of the coolest episodes Chuck has ever presented us, this week’s chapter, Chuck Vs. Operation Awesome truly lives up to it’s title and closes out one of the best two-parters I’ve ever seen on television. Continue reading

TV Watch — “Chuck: Chuck Vs. the Pink Slip/Chuck Vs. the Three Words/Chuck Vs. the Angel de la Muerte”
Last year, when NBC was reconfiguring their entire prime-time lineup to accommodate Jay Leno, many talented people were left unemployed as show after show was cancelled. The one show that came the closest to ultimate doom was the action/comedy Chuck, and if it weren’t for the rabid fans of the series, chances are we wouldn’t have gotten this third season. Be that as it may, fans wrote letters, singed petitions, and ate tons of Subway sandwiches and the show was granted this third year. Continue reading
TV Watch- “Big Love: Free At Last”
Big Love has evolved over it’s past three season’s into one of T.V.’s most complex and compelling drama’s. Big Love’s great opening sequence for the past three years has been replaced with one that is more visually catching, but it’s not as memorable as the original. That’s sort of the feeling you get watching Big Love’s season 4 premiere.
