TV Watch — 24: The Final 3 Hours

After the series finale of Lost, which I was sad to see go, I had to experience the series finale of my other favorite show on television, 24. To show my true feelings about these two shows coming to an end, I can only quote the arch-villain Castor Troy: “I hate to see you go, but I LOVE to watch you leave.” That pretty much sums it up. Let’s talk about how it all went down. Continue reading

TV Watch — 24: “9am-10am/10am-11am/11am-12pm/12pm-1pm”

So, last time we left off with Jack at the hospital standing over the dead body of Renee Walker. I predicted that Jack would go all renegade and, to be honest, “renegade” doesn’t even scratch the surface. To quote Marv in Sin City, “This is blood for blood and by the gallon.” Jack is in a “take no prisoners and kill my way to the top” kind of mood, and quite frankly, it has been an awesome ride thus far. Let’s get to it.
As the episode begins, Jack calls Chloe to find out where Bazhaev (the Russian crime boss who sold the nuclear rods to the terrorists) is being held. Continue reading

TV Watch — 24: “5am-6am/6am-8am/8am-9am”

The past three weeks of 24 have had some of the most gut-wrenching endings I can remember in the history of 24 , with two consecutive weeks ending with the infamous “silent clock.” For those of you not familiar with the history of 24 , every scene before a commercial break as well as every final scene of an episode ends with a visual of the real-time clock counting down for a few seconds, accompanied with the sound of the beeping of the digital clock. However, to mark events that are highly emotional, such as the death of a major character, the scene will end with a silent countdown. Since the beginning of the series, the silent clock has occurred 11 times, the final two being at the end of the past two consecutive episodes. Continue reading

TV Watch — 24: “3am-4am/4am-5am”

Alright. So, 24 has been officially cancelled after this season. Not to worry. A television show that stays on the air, while remaining rather successful, for eight years is pretty impressive. It seems that shows nowadays are lucky if they make it past eight episodes. Also, we now have 24 movies to look forward to. “Big-Screen-Bauer” has the potential to be pretty awesome. But I digress.
The past two episodes of 24 were two of the best so far this season, both with classic 24-style endings. Let’s not waste any time and get right to it. Continue reading

24 Is Officially Cancelled

News is leaking out tonight that Fox has officially cancelled the hour long drama 24. The rumors have swirled about this for a while now and we first reported the rumblings here at the Village several weeks ago. The show will air it’s final two hours on May 24th of this year capping off it’s 8th “Day” or season. Continue reading

TV Watch — “24: 2am-3am”

After the potentially heartbreaking news that Fox may be indeed canceling 24 after this 8th season (although the show may be picked up by the struggling NBC and/or Jack Bauer feature films may be on the horizon), it is time to put that tragic notion aside and return to our regularly scheduled installment of Bauer-induced ass kicking and world saving.
When we last left off, Cole and Dana had just finished dumping Kevin’s body in the lake, President Hassan’s head of security, Tarin Faroush, had escaped custody and was hiding out with Hassan’s daughter in a hotel room while they waited for an attorney who would help them apply for asylum, and Jack and Cole’s team were at the hospital where American-born attempted-suicide-bomber, Marcos, had barricaded himself in a hyperbaric chamber. Fox To Announce Cancellation of 24?

Variety is reporting that Fox will officially announce the cancellation of the hour-long drama 24 sometime this week. The show, which has run for eight seasons starring Kiefer Sutherland and has won many critical accolades and awards has seen it’s ratings decline in the midst of growing production costs. TV Watch — “24: 1am-2am”

When we last left off, Cole and Dana were standing near a lake with the bodies of Kevin and his partner-in-crime. Not too much happens with this plotline this episode, besides Cole and Dana sinking the bodies in the lake.
Jack has been put in charge of Cole’s team for the mission to extract Farhad Hassan, but when the team shows up, Farhad has been shot and quickly dies thereafter. From here, Jack works with Hastings to set up a fake news story that Farhad has been taken into custody wounded, but alive… Continue reading

TV Watch — “24: 9pm-1am” Recap

Sorry folks. I know it’s been a while, but it’s time to get back to some 24/Jack Bauer action-packed awesomeness. I’ll give a quick recap of the past four episodes here, along with a few thoughts about each. These past four episodes have covered the time period on “Day 8” from 9:00pm – 1:00am. There have been some high points and low points, but all in typical 24 fashion. Let’s get to it. Continue reading

TV Watch — “24: 8pm-9pm”

In the latest installment of Season 8 of 24, Jack and Renee are still undercover as Renee attempts to re-establish her cover in a New York Russian crime syndicate led by the sociopathic Russian with whom Renee has a mysterious past, Vladimir Laitanan (Callum Keith Rennie, who will always be known to me as “Lew Ashby” from Californication). The secret behind Renee’s past with Vladimir worries Jack, especially since he already doesn’t trust that she is mentally and emotionally stable enough for this mission. Continue reading

TV Watch — “24: Season Preview/4pm-6pm/6pm-8pm”

Season 8 of the hit show 24 premiered this past Sunday. This season begins at 4pm in the afternoon, not too long after the events of season 7, and in New York City, the location of one of the field offices of the newly reinstated and technologically improved CTU. Jack Bauer has recovered from the exposure to the biological weapon he endured in season 7, thanks to the experimental stem cell procedure that Kim volunteered for at the end of the season. Jack is finally retired and ready to settle down. Until… Continue reading
