TV Watch — A Look Back at Lost: Season 3

After the awe-inspiring first season, and the complex and intriguing second year, everyone at the Lost camp decided to throw a few curve balls and mix things up a bit for the third season of the series.  Now, many Lost fans are of the opinion that season 3 may be the weakest of the Lost seasons.  Now, I’ll be the first to admit, that it was quite brave of the writers to try different things, such as featuring an episode surrounding supporting characters Nikki and Paulo, and I’m sure they knew that not everyone was going to be happy with certain aspects of this season.  However, when you look at just how awesome the high points of season 3 were (I still believe that the Season 3 finale may be the best of all the Lost finales) it’s quite a statement of the quality of the series in total when you say that this season may have been it’s weakest, given just how high the quality of this season truly was. TV Watch — A Look Back at Lost: Season 2

In a matter of weeks, Lost: The Complete Series will hit the shelves of stores everywhere on DVD and Blu-Ray. The more I see about this collection, the more excited I become. With this being said, I’ve decided to go back and take an extended look at the series, season by season.
Without a doubt, the first season of this series was one of the true groundbreaking moments of network TV, and following up a success like that can be quite a daunting task. However, the writers over at Lost headquarters were up to the task and added to the mystery and adventure with the second season of this television milestone. Continue reading

The Village Sound: The Ultimate Lost Playlist

With the end of the television series Lost, the airwaves have been deprived of one of network TV’s one true gems. However, there are many ways that fans of the series can remember the awesome power that was this television milestone. Sure, this can be limited to having marathons where you watch the DVDs one after another, you can read the tons of fan theories on the internet, hell you could also decide to write your own fan-fiction. However, one way that I’ve been dealing with a world without Lost is by making a playlist of music that was not only featured on the series, but embodies the themes present throughout. So, to remind everyone of just how awesome this series was, I’m going to go back and take a look at the series season by season.  I have to say, looking back at the series now knowing exactly how it ends is quite the adventure, and I hope you guys have as much fun reminiscing as I do! The Village Square — How Lost Should Have Ended

A funny animated take on the finale of Lost

TV Watch — Lost: “The End: Sideways Story”

One of the main aspects that made Lost the phenomenon that it currently is was the inclusion of the various looks into the lives of it’s characters. In the past, we’ve seen flashbacks into the lives of the characters featured on Lost before the crash and we’ve also seen flashforwards chronicling the events that occurred to the characters after they left the island. However, in this final season of Lost, we were introduced to a novel concept called flash-sideways. This interesting plot device was used to show what would have happened to the characters that we’ve been following if the island had never existed. I thought this was a very smart and interesting twist, but I know of a few Lost fans that just didn’t see the point. Well, in the final episode ‘The End’, the flash sideways story came to its very emotional climax and we find out that what we think we knew about the sideways reality may not have necessarily been correct. TV Watch — Lost: “The End: Island Story”

Well, my fellow Losties, it’s been just over a week since the screen went black and we experienced the final moments in the television phenomenon that we’ve been following and discussing for the past 6 years. Over the past few days, it’s been a lot of fun discussing the various points of the finale with everyone who gathered around television sets everywhere on May 23rd. Due to the epic nature of the series finale of Lost, I’ve decided to split my look at the final chapter into two sections. Here, I intend to look at the island plotline, which we’ve been following for Lost’s entire run. There are many different opinions and views about the way Lost ended, but I for one couldn’t have imagined a better way to say goodbye to the series. Continue reading

The final season of Lost has brought us some of the most creative stories in the history of the series. We’ve seen the return of some former cast members and many of the island mysteries have been resolved. TV Watch — Lost: “Everybody Loves Hugo/The Last Recruit”

Well, my fellow Lost fans, the end is drawing closer and closer. Soon enough we will all be gathering around to experience the final hours of television’s greatest mystery series. However, until then, we still have a few more pieces of the puzzle that need to be put into place before the Lost series finale. One of the aspects that have made this amazing series so special is the fact that the episodes tend to focus around a certain character. By structuring the show this way, we were given a chance to get to know these characters very well. With the past two episodes, we were presented with what seems to be the very last single character episode and the finale battle for the island has begun in quite an explosive fashion. Continue reading

TV Watch — Lost: “The Package/Happily Ever After”

As this final season of Lost continues, characters are beginning to be explored in ways never before presented on television and lines are being drawn for the final battle for the island. Over the past few weeks, we’ve been presented with a very interesting look at the characters of Sun and Jin as well as receiving some of the plans that a number of different groups on the island have come up with to confront their enemies. Finally, the Lost crew has done it again and created quite an amazing chapter that begins the task of explaining the sideways reality along with bringing back one of the coolest characters presented on television. TV Watch — Lost: “Recon/Ab Aeterno”

So, we’ve officially reached the halfway point in the final season of the television masterpiece Lost. Lines are beginning to be drawn, and the war between the light and the dark is set to begin. The biggest question that lies ahead of our castaways is exactly which side is the light and which side is the dark? Is the notorious “man in black” as evil as Jacob and all of his followers claim he is? Well, over the past two weeks, we’ve have a pair of very interesting chapters in the Lost saga. First we had an episode that was mostly used for set-up, but it also functioned as a very complex character study. Secondly, we were presented with a very special episode that will most likely be remembered alongside ‘The Constant’ as one of Lost’s finest hours. Continue reading

As the final season of the television phenomenon Lost continues, lines are beginning to be drawn and the war so often spoken of seems poised to begin. On the other hand, we also have been getting quite an interesting look at what the lives of the characters could have been, and the results of these flash-sideways are quite a cool look into different aspects of these awesome characters. TV Watch — “Lost: The Substitute/Lighthouse”

After a mind-bending premier, and a toned-down character piece, the creators of Lost have presented two of their most amazing chapters that are slowly beginning to answer questions that have been lingering since day one. After the poorly received Kate-centric episode that followed up the epic premier of this 6th and final season of the television phenomenon, the folks over at Lost headquarters surely answered their critics by crafting two chapters of intrigue and excitement. TV Watch — “Lost: What Kate Does”

As the final season of ABC’s television phenomenon Lost rolls along, it is pretty clear that the creators of the series have a plan and are sticking to it. After the amazing season 6 premier, ‘LA X’, the big question floating around was exactly what the show was going to offer up next. Now, generally the writers of the show tend to follow up the epic season premiers with more low-key character driven episodes. However, with this being the final season, it was unclear if this trend would continue. Well, with the second episode in this season entitled ‘What Kate Does’, the creators of Lost took quite a chance and stuck with their formula and presented a low-key episode that showcased an interesting look at the character of Kate Austin.
